Give back to a good cause
It's Good for Your [Mental] Health
Each month this page is dedicated to a local Sacramento organization or cause that is working tirelessly in the name of social justice, either by providing mental health services to an underrepresented community, or by bringing awareness to an issue that impacts the mental health of marginalized groups. Consider learning more about these organizations and donating your time or your money--showing empathy is a great way to improve your own mental well being. #SacramentoProud
NAMI-Sacramento is part of the nation's largest grassroots, self-help, volunteer support and advocacy organization of consumers, family members and friends of persons afflicted with serious brain disorders (mental illnesses), such as schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and other anxiety disorders.
NAMI-Sacramento is dedicated to building better lives for all those affected by mental illness in Sacramento. They serve the county by offering support groups, classes, and outreach presentations. They are locally governed and locally funded.
NAMI Sacramento is the only local mental health agency offering support, education, and advocacy for people coping with their own mental illness and for their family and friends as well. We are a family and peer support and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with severe mental illnesses. Severe mental illnesses are physically-based brain disorders that can profoundly disrupt a person’s ability to think, feel, and interact with others and their environment.
